She called Scarlett about it, she called Megan about it.
About an hour later she sent out an email with a plan...and we all went for it:
Caravan to Minneapolis Minnesota with 7 kids in tow and 4 Mom's.
It was the best plan ever.
At first it seemed scary and crazy but it was an amazing experience. New Friendships, fresh memories, wonderful fellowship and lots of love and joy.
It was so worth it.
We left Sunday evening and stayed the night at Jim and Georgia's (Rachel's Uncle and Aunt) and they graciously let us pass out all over the basement in every direction. They were wonderful hosts and were so kind to let us borrow their van! Jim even gave the kiddo's all rides on the 4 wheeler!
Monday morning we packed up and left bright and early at 6:20 am! We were all a little anxious to get to MN:) We finally arrived at the Ronald McDonald house at about 6pm. Not too bad with 7 kiddos and 4 Mama's!
Ready...Aim...Fire!
Carter, Abby and his cousin's met us with some "dart gun hello's" and I think that was the constant favorite activity of the next couple of days.
After some dart-gunning we got to have dinner at the RMH.
Quite the table full huh?
Bedtime was interesting and memorable but finally after playing all evening we settled in to Megan's room and I can't believe we forgot to take a picture. It was quite a sight to see!
University of Minnesota, Children's Hospital
This next part I am copying from my cousin Scarlett, sorry but you worded it all so well Ssss:)
Tues-
5 moms and 11 children awoke, grabbed bfst bars and walked 1.4 miles to Carters 8am radiation appt.
Enjoyed
Carters choice of bfst location-- Perkins on our walk back. Quick stop
at playground kept kids happy too as we walked 1.4 miles back to RMH.
Carter napped as the kids played in RMH (arcade room, gym, castle playroom)
All joined Carter on his field trip to view Planes 2 movie at theater.
Returned to enjoy supper and do crafts (tie dyed t-shirts, disco balloon, lava lamp) at RMD house
Ken, Mara, Ian and Liam joined up with us and we had watermelon outside at playground area.
The day was beautiful and it was a great morning for a walk. We loved to see the area this way.
We even got to see a team of rower's on the river on the way to the hospital!
These humpty dumpty's were pretty popular with the kids. Don't put your finger in this one's nose though!
Wed-
We made eggs/bacon/toast bfst, then had playtime and lots of pics taken in courtyard.
Carter got radiation at 9am and returned.
All had cookout at RMH and celebrated Carters birthday with a DQ icecream cake and gifts.
Then all of Carters Crew joined RMH employee in selling lemonade at the street stand.
We then hiked to local park that had wading pool where water fun took place.
We got back in time for pizza delivery and cleaned up for gospel mtg.
After enjoyed the gospel mtg we had treat at McDonalds nearby before going to bed at RMH.
Thurs-
We said our goodbyes, left lots of hugs and love before we were OH bound.
Drove 14 1/2 hrs and made it home safe and sound before midnight.
OH, WHAT MEMORIES!!!!!!!!!!!
This trip will always be a wonderful memory we will hold close to our hearts.
We are all so very thankful for the love and support of those who helped to make it possible.
xoxo
