Heritage Days

Oh how I love fall!  I love how the weather gets cooler and more crisp and the smell of the leaves changing, cider, pumpkins, soup, and most of all the many many festivals.
Last Sunday we met my cousin Mara and her little family at Heritage Days at Malabar Farm.
One of the very first things we see when we get up to the festival is free pumpkin ice cream samples. We can never say NO to that!
 Jayden watches "something" being built.

 Boys will be boys!
The Byers clan checking out the arts and antiques.
 Posing with Ms. Amberly.
This picture reminds me of growing up.  Not that we actually dressed like this all the time but us siblings spent a lot of days dressed up in our "old time clothes" playing in the woods, climbing trees, wading in the creek, building houses in the weeds, whatever our imaginations led us to do!
 Re-enactments.
They warned us to cover our ears!

The boys found some wooden guns for sale for $3.
 Ready, aim, fire!
 Feeding time.
 Natural Dye
 A sweet talented wood carver.
We can't leave with out kettle corn
After we left the festival we drove up to Mt. Jeez (the 18th tallest "mountain" in Ohio standing tall at 1,310ft) for a beautiful view of changing leaves and Malabar Farm.

Fun Fact about Malabar:
Malabar Farm was built in 1939 by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Louis Bromfield and was his home until his death in 1956. On May 21, 1945, Bromfield hosted Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall's wedding and honeymoon at Malabar Farm.
