I know, I know...most creative unique birthday cake you've ever seen, I'm taking orders!!
John's birthday ended up being a week/weekend celebration. On his birthday we enjoyed this deliciousness. (John does prefer plain cake-with OUT icing, just to clarify)
Next we hung out at a Home Depot fun day for kids (and adults) if it weren't so sweltering hot that day! Man, I felt bad for those animals.
Later on in during the weekend we (John and I) went to Columbus for some birthday dinner at the Schmidt's Sausage Haus. The line was forever long and we were beginning to wonder if it was worth all the hype. We wasted a little time by going to the candy shop next door also owned by Schmidt's. Finally it was our turn.
It was worth the wait. John got the buffet with all kinds of varieties of different home made sausages and he snuck a few to go in my to-go box...shh don't tell!
For dessert we couldn't resist one of those puffs!
Next we ventured downtown to the little shops and came across this fun little vintage store.
Hmm...too bad I'm not still working at Perkins and having to wear ties, this would have been a good one!
| John finds his childhood lunch box at the antique store. Your age is starting to show honey! On our way home we hit DSW and couldn't pass up Trader Joe's. |
Sunday we went to Dad and Penny's for lunch and for more birthday celebration. John opens his gifts.
Surprise!! Trying to figure out what he will do with his Mom-in-law's gift. HA!!
Even little Zella thinks it's strange...heehee you NEVER know what your gonna get from Penny:)
Love looking at all your pictures! Also glad to see John's "plain" birthday cake...he must take after his mom...I would far rather have a plain cake than one with icing!! If it has icing, I scrape it off. ha! Keep the pictures coming, love keeping up with what is going on with you all through this blog! Mom
