John and I were supposed to go skiing. Of course, the sun came out and melted all the snow!
Grandpa was gone so Grandma Penny was excited to have the boys anyway so we decided to go to Columbus for a night.
John and I's first clue that something odd was going on was when we checked into hotel and headed up to our rooms. The elevator opened and we saw an elevator full of people looking similar to this:
From that moment on we were on the lookout!
John got a groupon for a restaurant called Banana Leaf so we figured we'd give it a try.
We weren't real sure when we first got there, it was kinda tucked away and inside was dark and I couldn't help but notice my feet sticking to the ground. We sat down and couldn't hardly understand our server at all!
We decided on the "grand buffet". Turns out it was QUITE a buffet!
First, we had a mango smoothie or mango juice (your choice- as many refills as you'd like)
Next, was SEVERAL (at least 7) different mini appetizers! Every one of them were delicious!
Then, came the buffet, which of course we weren't that hungry anymore
Last, was dessert.
The craziest part is that it was FANTASTIC and only $13.99 for that HUGE more than 7 course dinner. It was delicious and so much fun.
The next morning we headed to Short North for some shopping. There are so many fun and unique places here, we just love it!
Having a little fun in this little alteration shop before heading to this neat coffee shop for some "latte's"
They were quite small and quite BITTER if you ask me but the little heart's on top made it better somehow. For John maybe. For me they were still too bitter!
We loved the art work on the walls at this shop. It was done by a local artist.
We ate lunch at a little sushi restaurant downtown called Lemongrass that was really good too! I will definitely go here again!
Is your mouth watering yet?!
Can you tell we are foodies? Most of our pictures are of restaurants and food. For supper we ate at a place called Knead. thanks to another quick last minute groupon purchase we ate for a pretty good price! The oatmeal cream pie was mouth watering good...yum! Thankfully I found an awesome recipe for some blueberry oatmeal cream pies that may even be BETTER, which I didn't think was possible at the time!
Our after dinner entertainment had to be to go to the conference center to check out the anime peep's that we kept getting glimpses of here and there all weekend. Oh how we wished the boys were with us! They would have been in complete awe of these costumes and people and how "into it" everyone was. John and I were ready to run to Walmart or somewhere and whip up some costumes of our own!
Now this is where we get a little picture happy for our little guys, see we DO take pictures other than of our food!
Coffee anyone? I'd have loved to see him actually drinking his beverage with that mask on.
Well, inspite of the odd people it looks like much fun. A getaway is a getaway!! Look at all that food lol. We need to have an over night again soon.
